Reading the UB has influenced my art the most by making me aware of using my potential.  My talent is God’s gift to me and my work is my gift to God.  In the beginning I was inspired by some of the slide shows and other material plus encouragement from fellow readers.  As I reached for perfection of purpose and pastel and watercolor batik skills, I’m still amazed at starting out with a blank canvas and letting the Holy Spirit and celestial help guide me.  I have not painted in a year but will get back to it as led.

I am honored to have been asked to show 30 Colorado landscapes in the Sangre de Cristo Art and Conference Center January 21 – March 26, 2017

My art education consist of classes with Daniel Sprick, Leslie B de Mille, Albert Handel,  Fran Dodd and Teresa Vito,   In the late 1980’s I taught Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and Portraits in Pastels at Colorado Mtn College and here at the Sangre de Cristo Art Center.  I took a break to work as an Occupational Therapist and wrote “The Art of Art Therapy” winning a sum of money for that contest in a professional journal.

Current awards include having two paintings chosen by Senator Cory Gardner to hang for 2 years in his congressional offices, (“The River” and “Sand Dunes”).     I also had one in the State capitol, “Pike’s Peak,” just returning from Spotlight on Pueblo this past fall.

The Sangres Art Guild calendar contest chose a painting for 2010, 2012 and 2013.  In April 2014 I had a show at the Colorado Springs Airport.  I have had 2 shows at the Blue Spruce in Florence, CO, one summer of 2016, and one at the Artist Gallery in 2014 in Canon City. I have a drawer full of ribbons for HM to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Juror’s choice, and Best of Show. ..but you can’t eat ribbons!
