Paul Ray Effinger

I’ve been fascinated by classical figurative art ever since a boy. Masterpieces by DaVinci, Michelangelo, Bernini, and the ancient Greeks inspire me to this day. My art honors the human form. Nothing rivals its beauty and splendor – the work of the Greatest Artist. Early in my career I worked as a hi-tech Mechanical Engineer a decade until 1995, but my passion for art led me to become a Character Art Director in the gaming industry another decade until retiring in 2005. Continuing work as a freelance Artist and Sculptor, I built my own foundry in 2012 and have been casting custom state-of-the-art sculptures and jewelry via CAD/CAM since.

How has the UB changed my life:

About twenty years ago my cousin presented me a copy of the Urantia Book. After just going through a tough divorce with three young boys, it was a Godsend. I grew up Catholic but never heard of it. Reluctant at first, I began to read it, and the rest is history. It’s given me a supreme peace of mind since, and the capacity to accomplish just about anything I set my mind to. I try to share that peace with others when possible, and my art is often an expression of that.

Visual Art from Paul Ray Effinger

Volnus

“Volnus”, 2013, bronze with granite base, 110 lbs, H18 W10 D18″

matching sculpture to “Artifice”. I designed these Fallen Angels after reading the story of Lucifer’s deception in the Urantia Book, and I imagined the disillusionment and shame of the Rebel Midwayers.

Artifice

“Eve”, 2005, bronze with granite/wood base, 165 lbs, H39 W17 D17″

my first figurative bronze sculpture created. I sculpted it entirely by hand in clay; it took me a year to sculpt, another to bronze it.

Eve

“Artifice”, 2018, bronze with granite base, 54 lbs, H24 W7 D9″

matching sculpture to “Volnus”. I actually designed this in 2008, but it took me a decade to master the foundry process to be able to cast the complexity of her hair.

Van

“Van”, 2008, bronze with marble base, 62 lbs, H23 W13 D18″

a one-of-a-kind sculpture, and will not be reproduced! It’s my original design and based on one of my favorite characters in the Urantia Book, “Van the Steadfast”.
